Delaware State Police Arrested Kevin Shorter, 24, of Georgetown, DE, for attempted murder and related charges following an incident on Wednesday evening.
On September 7, 2022, at approximately 9:53 p.m., the Georgetown Police Department responded to the Royal Farms, located at 20579 DuPont Boulevard, in reference to an assault complaint. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 38-year-old man from Georgetown, was assaulted by an unknown man with a baseball bat inside the convenience store. The seriously injured victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Through investigative means, detectives determined that Kevin Shorter was the suspect and they obtained a warrant for his arrest. On September 10, 2022, at approximately 12:25 a.m., soldiers located Shorter in the Rehoboth Beach area and arrested him without incident.
Shorter was brought back to Troop 7 and charged with the following crimes:
- Attempted first degree murder (felony)
- Possession of a deadly weapon while committing a crime (Felony)
Shorter was arraigned before Justice of the Peace #3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Facility on $155,000.00 cash bond.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit took over this investigation at the request of the Georgetown Police Department.
