BEIJING — China’s top lawmaker Li Zhanshu on Wednesday called on his colleagues to conduct investigations and research by delving into the realities of life to further improve their performance.
Li, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National People’s Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, made the remarks during a workshop with NPC deputies attending the session of the NPC Standing Committee.
Stressing the importance of investigation and research, Li said research activities organized by the NPC Standing Committee should be strengthened and improved to help MPs better engage with the people, observe the public sentiment, collect people’s ideas and work for the benefit of their lives.
He commended the work of the outgoing NPC Standing Committee, saying that the research activities they have organized for the deputies have led to a series of quality reports, which are of great help to the forces of the order and to respond to public concerns.
He called on MPs to uncover the most common and important issues through further investigation and research and come up with high-quality proposals and suggestions.
