A preliminary investigation report in English and Chinese will be submitted to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) within 30 days of the recent plane crash, according to a press conference on Friday afternoon.

According to regulations, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) must submit a preliminary investigation report to ICAO within 30 days of the accident. The investigation team will conduct accident investigations in accordance with requirements, Mao Yanfeng, director of CAAC’s accident investigation unit, said at a press conference Friday in Wuzhou, in the region. Search and rescue work remains the most important task, and the search party watches camera footage and talks to witnesses while trying to find more clues.

According to the latest progress in analyzing data from the first black box, Mao Yanfeng, director of the accident investigation unit of the CAAC, said a lab in Beijing is downloading and analyzing data from the cockpit voice recorder.

“There is still no specific time when the process will be completed,” Mao said.

Communication was normal until the flight disappeared and crew members sent no distress signals, China Eastern Airlines spokesman Liu Xiaodong said at the press conference.

As of 3 p.m. Friday, remains of victims, 18 fingerprints and 101 relics were found at the scene.

The local government has organized 2,248 rescue forces and more than 100 sets of various types of vehicles and equipment for the search. The search area has been extended to nearly 200,000 square meters.

Officials said the crashed plane’s engine gearbox and remnants of the plane’s main landing gear were found in the center area of ​​the scene.

China Eastern Airlines said it provided a full list of passengers to the investigation team and contacted all families of passengers.

When asked if the airline would make the list public, Liu said the airline should fully respect the privacy of passengers and the wishes of their families, and also comply with relevant legal requirements.
