Police launch criminal investigation after finding man dead in car fire in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE — A man died in a car fire Saturday night on South 37th Street, according to a police news release.

Fort Pierce Police and St. Lucie Fire District officials first responded to the area around 6 p.m. Saturday for a bushfire. Officials then found a vehicle engulfed in flames, the statement said. The man in the vehicle succumbed to his injuries.

Police said the incident is now the subject of an active criminal investigation.
