NOPD arrests suspect in ongoing homicide investigation


On May 7, 2022, the NOPD arrested Alex Madison (pictured, black male, DOB: 05-14-1985) for murder in connection with the ongoing investigation into a May 6 homicide incident in the 4800 block of the Boulevard Alcee Fortier which left two men dead and four injured.

At approximately 2:14 p.m. on May 6, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call about a shooting at the scene. Upon arrival, officers located two adult males with apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead by EMS at the scene, while the second victim was taken to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

During the investigation, the NOPD learned that four other adult men who were shot in the incident were arriving at local hospitals for treatment.

Through investigation, detectives developed and positively identified Madison as the perpetrator of one of the homicides in this incident. A warrant has been obtained for Madison’s arrest on one count of second degree murder. Madison was located, arrested and booked accordingly at the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

The investigation remains active and ongoing to identify other suspects in this incident. No additional details are currently available.
