Hawaiian police forwarded an investigation into Puna’s 2020 murder to the Hawaii County District Attorney’s Office for review.

The victim is identified as Albert Aukai Manners, 35, known to frequent the Hilo and Puna areas. Manners was originally reported missing on December 1, 2020, after family members said they had not seen or heard from him since mid-November 2020.

During this investigation, detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigation Section conducted countless witness interviews and follow-ups. The scene was identified and processed, and evidence was recovered and sent to a lab for forensic testing. This ultimately led to this case being reclassified from a missing person investigation to second degree murder and the identification of two suspects.

The suspects in Manners’ murder are identified as Kiha Rodney Stone Ka’ahu, 44, of Leilani Estates, Pāhoa, and Olomana Pacad Black, 42, of Ainaloa, Kurtistown.

Police are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Detective Blaine Morishita of the Area I Criminal Investigations Section at 808-961-2385 or email him at [email protected]
