Downard funeral home criminal investigation underway


POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) – Police in Pocatello have said detectives can confirm the Downard Funeral Home case is being treated as a criminal investigation.

Computers taken from the company during the execution of the search warrant were sent to the Intermountain West Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory office in Boise for examination.

After the lab completes its examination, detectives will examine all documents retrieved from the computers.

Officers are also working to review files seized during the search warrant, and officers point out that it will take time to analyze all information on computers and files before they are presented to the county attorney’s office. by Bannock.

Subject # 11 is still not identified. The remains were examined by the Ada County coroner, and DNA samples were taken from the subject along with reference samples from possible family members to help positively identify the individual. Currently, detectives are awaiting reports from the Ada County Coroner and DNA results from the Idaho State Police Forensic Services Office.

A set of cremated remains that have been identified are still awaiting return to family members. Detectives are working with the Bannock County Coroner and the Idaho Professional and Professional Licensing Division to identify unidentified cremated remains.

Besides Pocatello Police Department, Bannock County Coroner, Ada County Coroner, Bannock County District Attorney’s Office, Idaho State Police Forensic Services Office and the Idaho Professional and Professional Licensing Division are participating in the survey.

Agents continue to work on more than 600 tips and information requests related to the case. They thank the community for their support and patience as detectives work on the case.
