BuzzFeed reported On Tuesday evening, prosecutors are reviewing charges of invasion of privacy and intentional transmission of a sexually transmitted infection.

The potential charges are said to stem from a complaint filed by a 25-year-old woman with the Los Angeles Police Department in October 2020. The woman accused Diplo, born Thomas Wesley Pentz, of recording sexually explicit videos of her and to have distributed one, in both cases. case without his consent and knowingly infecting him with chlamydia.

His lawyer Bryan freedman denied the allegations in a statement, saying, “More lies from the same troubled individual who has been stalking and threatening Wes, his family and friends for years.” Pentz later denied the allegations in a series of statements and screenshots on Instagram, writing: “Here’s a story about how a stalker broke his way into my life and tried to extort millions from me, then sued me when she didn’t get what she wanted to.”

The investigation comes after a legal back-and-forth between the accuser and Pentz. As BuzzFeed noted, the woman also made allegations against him in a request for a temporary restraining order, which was granted, and in a civil lawsuit earlier this year, claiming Pentz sexually assaulted her. and defamed it. Pentz sought and received his own temporary injunction against her and sued her for criminal harassment, trespassing and spreading sexually explicit portrayals of him.

The woman claimed in legal documents that Pentz initially corresponded with her through direct messages on Twitter when she was 17, and that she had consensual sex with him in 2018, when she had 21 years old. The following year, she claimed, Pentz raped her. in his hotel suite in Las Vegas after a show.

“Diplo is a highly successful songwriter and record producer,” The Woman’s Civil Lawsuit noted. “He’s also a middle-aged white man who targets very young black women and girls for sexual assault.” Pentz has denied any wrongdoing and her career does not appear to have been significantly interrupted by the woman’s allegations, which began to circulate publicly last year. In July, however, the Baltimore Orioles canceled their post-game concert after the woman filed a civil lawsuit.
