When the mother and grandmother saw the video, they saw that the child had been pulled from the ground by the hair and thrown into a corner, the report said. He was also slapped and punched.

The responding officer requested that the video be copied to a USB drive he provided, but was told by staff that IT staff would have to make the copy and it would be available the next day, according to the report.

Two people were listed as suspects in the report, but their identities have been redacted by police.

The Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning also confirmed that two reports were made, on a Wednesday and a Thursday, of allegations of improper discipline at the facility, and an investigation has been opened.

The property could not be reached for comment on Thursday.

A day earlier, DeKalb County police announced an investigation into another daycare center just a mile from downtown Clarkston.

Police said they received reports of abuse at the Appletree Learning Center and Academy at 4700 East Ponce de Leon Avenue, and DECAL confirmed that allegations of improper discipline with toddlers were made.

Details of that case have also not been released, including the date of the alleged abuse, but the state said it was alerted on Tuesday.

The DeKalb facility was investigated in 2018 for missing or incomplete training for some staff members and missing criminal record checks for two staff members, according to DECAL records. The facility agreed to schedule the required 10 hours of annual training each year and to obtain background checks before anyone attended the center.

In the case of the Clarkston facility, no previous complaints appear to have been registered.

A third child care centre, ABC Learning Academy in Stockbridge, is also being investigated by police and the state after a 3-year-old child was found by police wandering alone in a car park in a high-rise area. traffic last week.
